Mr. Robert J. (Bob) Bennett, 80, Crawfordsville, passed away on October 3rd after many years living with dementia issues. He was born November 1st, 1935 in Crawfordsville. He married Carol Dinwiddie in Crawfordsville on March 15th, 1957. She survives.
Mr. Bennett served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force and ran a local business, the Montgomery County Supply, for 30 years in Crawfordsville. He was a 1954 graduate of Crawfordsville High School and a 1960 graduate of Purdue University. In his free time he enjoyed woodworking and remodeling.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: John R. Bennett of Mendon, Michigan; Elizabeth Mathews of Stockwell, Indiana; and Patrick Bennett of Noblesville, Indiana. A sister, Elizabeth Dodds (Pinkston) survives, as do half brothers: Sam Bennett and David Bennett, both of Crawfordsville. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren: Victoria Mathews, Weston Stuart, Leslie Bennett, Michaela Bennett, Maeve Bennett, William Bennett, and Ellen Bennett; and 1 great-grandchild: Isaac Mathews. Preceding him in death were his father: Bill Bennett; his mother: Ruth Pinkston (McCarthy); his stepfather: D. W. Pinkston; and his brother: John W. Bennett.
A Public Graveside Service is scheduled for 1:00 PM Saturday, October 8th, in the Calvary Cemetery, with Rev. Mark Berg officiating. Military Rites will be conducted at the cemetery by the Crawfordsville American Legion and VFW Posts Honor Guard and the U.S. Air Force. Friends may call at the Powers-Priebe Funeral Home on Friday, October 7th, from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM
