Robert Lee "Bob" Calder, age 97 of Crawfordsville, passed away on Monday, April 8, 2024 at home while surrounded by his loving family. He was born at home in Waynetown on March 10, 1927 to Clarence & Norma (Davis) Calder.
Bob graduated from Waynetown High School in 1947 and proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He married Betty Ilene Hutson on April 22, 1949 in Veedersburg. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and a proud farmer. He raised crops, pigs and cows and loved being a farmer and a steward of the land. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, watching I.U. basketball and the Indianapolis Colts, and attending his grandchildren's events; but most of all he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He was a proud member of the Waynetown American Legion and was Past Commander when it was open.
He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Betty Calder; five children, Cheryl Calder of Crawfordsville, Rick (Jennie) Calder of Wingate, Teresa (Danny) Parker of Bainbridge, Judy (Jamey) Chaney of Frankfort, and Debbie (Roy) Cortez of Columbus; 14 grandchildren; and 25 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Margaret Bell; a brother, Curtis Calder; a granddaughter, LeeAnn Brock-Calder; and a brother-in-law, Robert Hutson.
Visitation will be at Sanders Funeral Care Waynetown, 202 Bratton Road, in Waynetown on Monday, April 15, 2024 from 11:00 am till the time of the funeral service at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
