Roberta M (Bessemer) Gatliff

Roberta M. (Bessemer) Gatliff, age 101 of Crawfordsville passed away peacefully on January 9, 2019 at Wellbrooke of Crawfordsville.  She was born on October 17, 1917 to the late Lewis & Flora (Foxworthy) Bessemer in Yountsville; in a small house under the new bridge.

Roberta graduated from Crawfordsville in 1936 and in 1939 she married the love of her life, Carl D. Gatliff, who preceded her in death in 2008, after 69 years of marriage.  Roberta had worked at the shirt factory before becoming a homemaker.  She was best known for being a seamstress for many people in and around Crawfordsville.  Her Christmas cookies and homemade noodles were a hit with her family.  She has been a member of Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church since she was 12 years old.  Roberta was a Girl Scout leader and member of Phi Chi Epsilon Sorority for 50 plus years.  Her and Carl traveled to all 50 states, plus Canada, Mexico, and went on many cruises.

She is survived by her two daughters, Ronita Bury of Indianapolis and Rosonda (Bob) Hill of Muncie; two grandchildren, Rodara (Jeff) Willis and Shane (Jenny) Bury; three great grandchildren, Devon Wills, Kaden Bury and Kyle Bury; and many special friends.
