Roberta "Bert" Jean Childers

Roberta Jean “Bert” Childers, age 62 of Crawfordsville passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2018.  She was born in Crawfordsville on April 28, 1956 to the late Robert Ned & Laura Evelyn (Underwood) Childers.

Roberta graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1974 and graduated from Indiana University Kokomo in 1998 with a degree in Criminal Justice.  She was a social worker for over 30 years and worked at various agencies throughout the years and retired from ASI in Crawfordsville.

She was the first female in the drum line in the Crawfordsville School Bands, belonged to the Sing Out Group, loved to play the drums, and loved the outdoors.  She enjoyed camping, hiking, gardening, loved animals, especially her two Shelties, Kenè and Kinsey.  She was a member of the Waveland Christians in Action Church, a fan of the Indiana Fever and loved spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by many cousins, friends and special life-long friends, Sue McCauley and Angela Comer.

Visitation will be at Sanders Priebe Funeral Care, 315 S Washington Street in Crawfordsville on Friday, January 4, 2019 from 11:00am till the time of the funeral service at 1:00pm with Pastor Rodney Coffman officiating.  Burial will follow at Roachdale Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Sheltie Rescue of Central Indiana, PO Box 199046, Indianapolis, IN 46219.  Share memories and condolences online at www.sandersfuneralcare.com.
