Robert “Bee Man” Irwin Congleton, age 77 of Ladoga, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2020 at Franciscan Health Lafayette East. He was born in Fountain County on August 14, 1942 to the late Clifford Riley Congleman & Mahala Evelyn (Simms) Rowland.
Bob attended Hillsboro School and throughout the years worked at Harrison Steel in Attica, Mollie Mining at the Gold Mine in Colorado, Ingress Plastene in Crawfordsville for 28 years, and retired from Lithonia Hi-Tek Lighting. He proudly served his country in the United States National Guard and was a member of the Smartsburg Christian Church. Bob was best known as the “Bee Man” for collecting and selling his honey.
He is survived by his daughter, Shawna (Brian) Luke of Greenwood; brother, William Congleton; brother-in-law, Tom McGinnis; friend, Kay Reagin; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Gary Congleton; a daughter, Shannon Clark; 3 sisters, Judy McGinnis, Beverly Hodges, and Doris Russell and 2 brothers, Jack and Mike Congleton.
Visitation will be at Smartsburg Christian Church, 412 N 400 E, in Crawfordsville on Friday, January 24, 2020 from 11:00am till the time of the funeral service at 2:00pm with Pastor Dale Downs officiating.
