Rolland E Woolwine Sr., age 88, of Kingman passed away at 5:00am on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Danville IL on December 22, 1926 to the late Curgy and Olivia Alice (Martin) Woolwine.
Rolland graduated from Kingman High School in 1945 and married Shirley Jean Odeneal on September 17, 1955 in Covington. He proudly served in the United States Army during World War II. He retired as a union carpenter from Covington local 3241 and owned and operated the Sycamore Valley Campground and Farm. He was a 50 year member of the Yeddo F&AM 636 and former member of Yeddo O.E. S, Kingman American Legion, and served several years with the Kingman Boy Scouts Troop 278. He was a member of the Sterling Christian Church and Prairie Creek Baptist Church. He enjoyed listening to gospel music, dancing, working outdoors, always looked forward to family events and meals, and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley of Kingman; two sons, Norman Brent (Sharon) Woolwine of Vincennes and Rolland "Ed" (Marka) Woolwine of Kingman; a daughter, Linda (Bob) Bushue of Kingman; 7 grandchildren, Katrina, Angie, Aaron, Chad, Cheryl, Samantha, and Brian; 8 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Bob and Curtis, and a daughter Rhonda.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 25, 2015 from 4-8pm with Masonic Rites at 7:45 pm at Sanders Funeral Care, 203 S 1st Street, Kingman. Funeral will be on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at 1:00pm at the funeral home with Loren Stephens and Gary Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Centennial Cemetery with full military honors by the Kingman American Legion. Memorial donations may be made to the Prairie Creek Baptist Church Building Fund.
