Ronald Gene Allgood, age 86 of Veedersburg and formerly of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at home while surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Russellville, Indiana on February 19 1938 to the late Leland Forest & Effie Mae (Cloncs) Allgood.
Ron graduated from Russellville High School in 1957. He married Dorsie Oliver on May 9, 1958 and they had 4 children. He later married Shelby "Jean" Asburn, who preceded him in death on August 30, 2021. He worked at RR Donnelley's as a forklift driver for 20 years. He was a member of the Morton Masonic Lodge, Eagles, and Moose Lodge. He loved farming, John Deere tractors, and raising cattle. He then worked for General Cable in Kentucky for over 20 years, owned and operated a laundry mat and was a tobacco farmer in Kentucky. He enjoyed farming, driving around in his RV, camping, listening to his music, and was an avid Kentucky Wildcats Fan. He never met a stranger, loved visiting with everyone, and always wanted to become a professional basketball player.
He is survived by his four children, Debbie Gleason, Benjamin (Shirley) Allgood, Kenny (Angie) Allgood and Pennie Stancombe; mother of his four children, Dorsie Murphy; three step-children, Judy (Bruce) McGaughey, Betty (Logan) Brown, and Terry Floyd; one sister, Jerilyn Mitchell; 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Burley Allgood Sr and Russell Allgood; two sisters, Edna Mae Clodfelter and Betty Frances Deckard; and a granddaughter, April Jean Disponett.
Visitation will be at Sanders Funeral Care, 315 S Washington, in Crawfordsville on Saturday, October 12, 2024 from 2:00pm-4:00pm. Another visitation will follow at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home, 701 N Main St, in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky on Monday, October 14, 2024 from 12:00pm till the time of the funeral service at 2:00pm. Burial will follow at Lawrenceburg Cemetery in Kentucky. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Prostate Cancer Foundation, 1250 Fourth Street, Santa Monica, CA 90401.
