Ronald Howard Banta, age 75, of Crawfordsville passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at home while surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Marshall, Indiana on October 27, 1944 to the late Howard & Lois Jean (Hughes) Banta.
Ronald graduated from Turkey Run High School in 1962 and married the love of his life, Peggy Oakley, on August 3, 1968, who survives.
Ron proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserves and worked at R.R. Donnelley as a machine operator for 44 years. He enjoyed working outdoors, gardening, and mowing the yard. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Banta; two sons, Scott (Jennifer) Banta and Jeff (Heather) Banta; 7 grandchildren, Jordon (fiancé – Porsche ), Madison, Haley, Tyler, Erin, Ariel, and Mitchell; 3 sisters, Shirley Banta, Joyce Brady, and Linda Patton, two brothers, Mike (Bev) Banta and Terry Banta; and his dog, Bubby.
Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, there will be a private family service only on Saturday, April 4, 2020 at Sanders Priebe Funeral Care in Crawfordsville. Burial will follow at Wolf Creek Cemetery in Wallace. Memorial donations may be given in his memory to the Indiana Hemophilia Center, 8326 Naab Road, Indianapolis, IN 46260.
