Mr. Ron D. Chadd, 66, Waveland, passed away Friday, December 7, at 6:46 PM in the St. Elizabeth Crawfordsville Hospital. He was born January 10, 1946, in Greencastle, to Monte F. and Dorothy (Van Vactor) Chadd. He married Sheila J. Porter, January 22, 1966, in Brick Chapel. She survives.
Mr. Chadd retired from R R Donnelleys after 40 years of employment, where he had been a Plate Maker. He was a 1964 graduate of Greencastle High School; a United States Army Veteran; attended the New Market United Methodist Church; member of the American Legion Post #72; and will also be remembered for his 25 plus years of coaching baseball, cross country, and girls basketball in the South Montgomery School Corporation as well as in the New Market Community. In his free time he also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his 2 sons: Wes (Sabrina) Chadd, Waveland; and Dan (Lisa) Chadd, Crawfordsville. Also surviving are sisters: Naomi Miller, Monrovia; Mary Ann Jones, Boswell; Mellba Chadd, Indianapolis; Ruth (George) Stultz, Greencastle; brother: Richard (Lori) Chadd, Crawfordsville; grandchildren:
Jessica, Kaitlynn, Camden, Carson, and Cale Chadd. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Jim and Donald Chadd; and his sister: Norma Harton.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, Crawfordsville, with Rev. Bill Pike officiating. Burial will be in the Freedom Baptist Church Cemetery, Highway 234 West, near Waveland. Graveside Military Rites will be conducted by the Crawfordsville American Legion and VFW Posts Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 11, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
