Ronnie Allen Thomas, 77 of Tangier passed away July 2, 2019 peacefully at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born October 22, 1941 in Foster, Indiana to the late Harold and Rovene (Rhodenbaugh) Thomas. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Helen Gossett Thomas. They were married June 11, 1960.
Ronnie had worked at Mid States Steel and Wire for 27 years, was a watermelon farmer and worked for Purdue Breaking New Ground as a consultant. He was a member of Rush Creek Friends Church in Sylvania.
Ronnie was a former Boy Scout Leader and enjoyed wood working, going to gourd shows, camping, fishing, traveling, watching his hummingbirds, and time with his family.
Other survivors include his children, Randy (Esther) Thomas and Gary Thomas both of Tangier; Kimberly (Bradley) White of Rosedale; Brothers David (Cathy) Thomas of Hillsboro; Mike (Pam) Thomas and Steve (Amanda) Thomas both of Veedersburg; Sisters Vinnie (Larry) Wilkerson of Peru; Sue Cox and Nancy Kirts both of Veedersburg; Jannie Deffenbaugh of Hume, IL; five grandchildren, Rachel Harris (Josh Milbourn) of Rockville, JT Thomas of Tangier, Ashley (Zach) Norman of Rockville, Kristin (Tyler) Busenbark of Terre Haute and Thomas Soltermann of Clinton; Nine great-grandchildren, Wil Sauter, Blake and Aidan Harris, Taylor, Payton and Kendall Thomas, Sophia, Emma and Isabella Norman; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by siblings, Bob Chilacote, Larry Thomas and Leila Thomas.
Visitation will be at Sanders Funeral Care, 203 S 1st Street in Kingman on Saturday, July 6, 2019 from 12:00pm till the time of the memorial service at 2:00pm with Doug Newnum officiating. Inurnment will follow at Rush Creek Cemetery.
