Rosemarie (Lawrence) Haas, age 89, of West Lafayette went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 20, 2018 at home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Minneapolis, MN on June 16, 1928 to the late Frank & Rosella (Heiman) Lawrence. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis and attended the University of Minnesota & the MacPhail School of Music. In 1953 in Minneapolis she married the love of her life, Dr. Charles Haas, who preceded her in death on February 2, 1999.
Rosemarie was an Administrative Assistant to the head of University of Minnesota Medical School and the Fiscal Accounts Clerk for the Veteran Administration in St. Paul. She was a member the Newcomers Women’s Club, St. Elizabeth Auxiliary, Ladies of Charity, and one of the founding members of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament. She enjoyed playing the piano, reading, and traveling.
She is survived by her son, Mark (Kathy) Haas, of Veedersburg; two daughters, JoAnn (Scott) Haner, of Louisville, KY and Nora Haas of West Lafayette; one brother, F.W. (Gwen) Lawrence; 9 grandchildren, Emily (Jeff) Walkey, Annelise (Schuyler) Dutton, Jeff Haas, Jacob (Stephanie) Haas, Austin Haas, Lisa Bacon, Monica Bacon, Julie Haner, and Lauren (Josh) Welsh; 3 great-grandchildren, Liesel Walkey, Augie Walkey, Iggy Walkey; and her cat, Tabby.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 46 years, Dr. Charles Haas; daughter, Karen Arth; grandson, Robert Arth; and brothers, Donald Lawrence and Walter Lawrence.
Special thanks for the care provided by the Comfort Keepers Staff, Patty, Mary, Jessie, Nancy, Daymia, Beth, Linda, and others, plus Kelly and Elizabeth with the Viaquest Hospice Staff.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 25, 2018 from 5:30 – 8:00pm at Hippensteel Funeral Home, 822 N 9th Street in Lafayette with a vigil service at 7:30pm. Funeral Mass will be Friday, January 26, 2018 at 10:00am at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 2224 Sacramento Drive, West Lafayette, IN 47906 with Father Andrew Dekeyser officiating. Burial will follow at St. Boniface Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given to the Church of the Blessed Sacrament for Masses, or the St. Meinard Archabbey, 200 Hill Drive, St. Meinard, IN 47577 or West Central Community Foundation, Charles & Rosemarie Haas Fund, PO Box 175, Covington, IN 47932.
