Russell Lee White

Mr. Russell L. White, 89, of New Market, ended his earthly journey at his home on Wednesday, November 23rd at 11:55 PM. He was born in Putnam County on February 22nd, 1927, to the late Ernest and Geneva (Wilson) White. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Jack White. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Doris (Alexander); son: Ted (Karen) White of Shreveport, LA; daughter: Christine (Tom) Peyton of Coatesville, IN; three granddaughters; six grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren; two nephews; and sister-in-law: Ruth White.

Russell graduated from Greene Township School in 1945 and enlisted in the Army Air Corps. He and Doris were married on August 2nd, 1947. He farmed in Parke County for most of his life, and loved it. He later Owned Crawfordsville Tractor Sales and after that formed his own company, Russ White Trucking.

Russell was and active member for the First Baptist Church for many years, but recently was welcomed into the family of the Whitesville Christian Church. He was a member of the V.F.W and the Montgomery County Antique Tractor Club.

He was a great lover of all animals and was rarely seen around Crawfordsville without his sidekick dog, Sarah. He also enjoyed boating. Spending time with family was what made him happiest.

Visitation of his life will be at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home in Crawfordsville on Sunday, November 27th, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A Celebration of His Life will be on Monday, November 28th at 1:00 PM, at the funeral home, with Mike Whitacre officiating. Entombment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery Mausoleum.
