Ruth Hampton

Ruth Laroka Hampton, 83, New Market, passed away Sunday, February 20, at 9:30 AM at the Lane House Nursing Home. She was born May 12, 1927 in Montgomery County, to Daniel Laroka and Fern Laymone (Dowden) Utterback. She married Herschel E. Hampton, October 14, 1944 in Crawfordsville. He preceded her in death on February 12, 2001.

Mrs. Hampton retired from Ingress Plastene in Crawfordsville.

She is survived by step-son; Herschel Hampton, Jr and sister; Kathryn Townsend. Also surviving are 2 granddaughters, 1 step granddaughter, 1 great grandson, 3 step great grandchldren, and several nieces and 1 nephew. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and son, Richard E. Hampton.

There will be a memorial service following cremation Saturday, February 26, at 2:00 PM at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, 315 S. Washington St, Crawfordsville. The family will greet friends Saturday at the funeral home from Noon until 2:00 PM. A committal service will follow the memorial service at Oak Hill Grant Avenue Cemetery, Crawfordsville.
