Mr. Samuel Joseph Myers, 66, Crawfordsville, passed away Sunday morning. He was born January 24, 1947, in Crawfordsville to George R. and Sara (Grandstaff) Myers. He was raised by his adoptive parents: Bill and Bernice VanHook. He first married Connie Dawson on May 24, 1967, in Culver City, California. They later divorced. She survives. He then married Sandra Kay Powell on June 28, 1978, in Wabash, Indiana. She preceded him in death on September 26, 2013.

Mr. Myers retired from Duke Energy in 2005 where he had been a Senior Wireman - Substation Construction. He was a 1965 graduate of Crawfordsville High School; was a US Navy Vietnam War Veteran, having served on the USS Coral Seas as part of the 151st Fighter Squadron; and he was a member of the American Legion Post #72 and the VFW Post 1431, both of Crawfordsville.

He is survived by his son: T. J. (Jada) Myers, Crawfordsville; his daughter: Chanin Taylor, Crawfordsville; step-sons: Print (Mindy) Givens, Lafayette, and Cory Givens, Illinois. Also surviving is his sister: Sandra Utterback, Crawfordsville; and 8 grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Sandra, he was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation was chosen with a memorial committal service to be held at the Mace Community Cemetery on Saturday, January 25, with Pastor Tami Mussche officiating. The family will greet friends at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home on Saturday from Noon until 2:00 PM. Military Honors will be conducted at 2:00 PM in the funeral home by the VFW and American Legion Posts. Following the Military Honors family and friends will proceed to the cemetery. Memorials may be made to: American Legion Post #72, 101 Walter Remley Dr., Crawfordsville, IN 47933.
