Sharon Griest

Sharon Kay (Griffin) Griest, age 81, of Crawfordsville, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at home surrounded by her family. She was born in Crawfordsville on May 31, 1942 to the late Lee Oren and Velma (Steele) Griffin.

Sharon attended Crawfordsville High School. She married Paul Griest, he preceded her in death in 1993. She later married Wilfredo "Freddie" Leon on May 30, 1997, he preceded her in death on March 14, 2016. She lived in Orlando, Florida for 31 years before moving back to Crawfordsville in 2009. She was a loving mother and homemaker and worked at the Wesley Thrift Shop for many years. She was a member of Fremont Baptist Church. She was an animal lover, excellent cook, and loved garage sales and thrift stores.

Sharon will be deeply missed by her children, Roxanne Thomas, Kandy Hicks, Thomas Griest, and Mark (Kelly) Griest; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and her "adopted" sons, Joseph (Roland) Germain, Harry Mehta and his wife, and Ashu and many other friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Paul Griest; her second husband, Freddie Leon; son, Timothy Griest; daughter, Sara Allee; brother, Bill Griffin; and a sister, Clara Beth Gibson.

Visitation will be at Sanders Priebe Funeral Care, 315 S Washington St. in Crawfordsville on Saturday, April 20, 2024 from 1:00 pm till the time of the funeral service at 3:00 pm with Pastor Dan Aldrich officiating. Entombment will follow at Oak Hill Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Sharon's name to the Animal Welfare League of Montgomery County, 1104 Big 4 Arch Road, Crawfordsville, IN 47933.
