Sondra Kay Thompson

Sondra Kay Thompson, age 64 of Indianapolis and formerly of Crawfordsville, passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2025 after a brief illness, at Franciscan Health Indianapolis. She was born on June 22, 1960 to Alvin "Dale" and Carolyn (Bruton) Rentchler in Crawfordsville.

Sondra graduated from Crawfordsville High School, Class of 1978. She was previously married to Steven Thompson, Sr. Sondra worked at Hose Elementary Kitchen, Walmart Optical and most recently at Banjo. Sondra was a loving caregiver for her mother. She was a kind and loving person, moved by stories of hardships and donated to causes that touch her heart. She deeply cared for people and supported local humanitarian causes. Sondra enjoyed knitting, watching animal shows and caring for her birdfeeders. She loved playing cards and games with family and friends. Her smile and laugh were infectious to those around her. Family was the most important part of Sondra's life.

Sondra will be missed by her son, Steve Thompson, Jr.; brother, Alvin "Dale" Rentchler, Jr.; sisters, Linda Marshall and Janet (Alan) Clifton; nieces, Jessica, and Jo Lynne; nephew, Ryan; and extended family.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at 11:00 am at Indian Creek Hill Cemetery, State Road 47 South outside of New Market. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sondra's memory to your local animal shelter. Share memories and condolences at www.SandersFuneralCare.com.
