Stella May (Black) Franklin

Stella May Franklin passed away on December 24, 2022 at Waters of Covington with family at her side. She was born on October 20, 1939 in Crawfordsville to Ernest and Betty (Conkright) Black. Stella married the love of her life, Herbert Franklin on August 10, 1957 in Crawfordsville.
She worked at McHarry Farm Equipment making wagons and trailers and worked in the kitchen at Flagtown Inn Restaurant. In her earlier years Stella loved roller skating and riding motorcycles. She also enjoyed playing cards, gambling at the casinos, bowling and knitting.
Stella is survived by her husband, Herbert; 4 children, Edward Franklin (Sharon) of Apple Valley, CA, Marie Kirkpatrick (Ron Benassi) of Crawfordsville, Daniel Franklin of Newton and James Franklin of Centerpoint; 18 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 2 siblings, Midge Switzer and Robert Black (Peggy); and several nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 sisters, Linda Jackson and Diane Hargis; and 1 brother, Ernest Black.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at Sanders Priebe Funeral Care, 315 S Washington Street in Crawfordsville from 12:00 noon until the time of the service at 2:00 pm.
