Mr. Steven Douglas Skelton, 58, Crawfordsville, passed away Friday, September 30th, at 3:50 PM in Hickory Creek of Crawfordsville. He was born October 9th, 1957, in Clinton, Indiana, to David L. and Mary Jane (Thompson) Skelton. He married Mary Fox on May 28th, 1977, in Browns Valley. They later divorced.
Steve was retired from the Crawfordsville Army National Guard where he received the rank of Staff Sergeant and was a member of the "Governor's 20". He was a 1975 graduate of Southmont High School and received an Associate of Science Degree from Vincennes University.
He was also a member of the Browns Valley Christian Church and in his free time enjoyed fishing and camping.
He is survived by his parents of Browns Valley; his children: Rachel (Chad) Scott, Crawfordsville; and Adam (Patricia) Skelton, New Market. Also surviving are his sisters: Sarah (Jeff) Baker, Crawfordsville; Susie (Mark) Rogers, Crawfordsville; his brother: Sam (Karen) Skelton, Russellville, Tennessee; grandchildren: Carter Scott and Franklin Skelton. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 5th, in the Browns Valley Christian Church, 9011 State Road 47 South, Crawfordsville, with Pastor David Finch officiating. Burial will follow in the Indian Creek Hill Cemetery, New Market. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday, October 4th, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
