Mrs. Thelma L. Truby, 92, Crawfordsville, passed away Sunday at 7:20 AM at the Whitlock House. She was born January 19, 1919, in Norris City, Illinois, to George and Reva (Morgan) Hanover. She married Ronald Truby March 2, 1946, in Danville, Illinois. He preceded her in death in 1999.
Mrs. Truby retired in 1977 after having worked as a Medical Assistant for 14 years at Dr. Shannon's office. She also worked 5 years at Raybestos Products and 5 years at the Indiana State Revenue Office. She attended Georgetown, Illinois, schools; was a member of New Hope Christian Church; was a 50 year member of the Athens Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star; and was active with many Montgomery County civic organizations. In her free time she enjoyed golf, fishing, traveling, sewing, and oil painting.
She is survived by her daughter: Connie D. Vance, Crawfordsville; grandchildren: Ron (Cheryl) Sabens, Jon (Chelly) Sabens, and Chris Sabens, all of Crawfordsville. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers: Ed and George Hanover.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 14, at 11:00 AM, at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, 315 S. Washington St., Crawfordsville, with Rev. Michael Whitacre officiating. Burial will be at the Masonic Cemetery, Waynetown, Indiana. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM.
