Mrs. Theresa Elizabeth (Lowes) Esra, 90, Lafayette, formerly of Crawfordsville, passed away Thursday, May 17, at 9:22 AM, at I.U. Health Arnett Hospital, Lafayette. She was born March 31, 1922, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, to Corneilius and Ada (Green) Lowes. She was raised by William and Annetta Mason in New Richmond. She married Harold H. "Colonel" Esra, August 3, 1976 in Lafayette. He preceded her in death January 12, 1997.
Mrs. Esra was a homemaker and had worked for a short time at Purdue University. She was a 1940 graduate of New Richmond High School; member of the Christ's United Methodist Church; enjoyed quilting, sports, anything about Purdue, and was dedicated to her family.
She is survived by children: Marji (Lee) Schnell, Houston, Texas; Marilyn (Richard) Ferguson, W. Lafayette; Richard (Susan) Mitchell, Lafayette; William (Karina) Mitchell, Missouri City, Texas; step-children: Michael (Judie) Esra, Crawfordsville; Joyce (James) Anderson, Crawfordsville; and Karen (Roger) Brutan, Frankfort. Also surviving are grandchildren: Kiley Nickels; Karsey (DeEdwin) Williams; Lara (Clint) Knight; Megan (Nathan) Troup; Brooke Mitchell; Eric (Susan) Schnell; Luke (Lindsey) Schnell; Craig Ferguson; great grandchildren: Erik, Ethan, Sylvia, and Lucy Schnell; Benjamin and Wyatt Nickels; Kendrick Williams; Emily Knight; Quincy and Simon Troup; and many beloved step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers: Clifford and Francis Lowes; 1 sister: Lorraine Gruschow.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 19, at 3:00 PM at the Christ's United Methodist Church, 909 E. Main, Crawfordsville, with Rev. Chris Renick, officiating. Burial will be at the Oak Hill North Cemetery, Crawfordsville. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 2:00 PM until the service time. Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, Crawfordsville, is assisting with the arrangements. Memorials may be made to the church or to the KARSEYSTRONG FOUNDATION, both in care of the church at 909 E.
