Thomas Edward Burch, age 82, of Tangier passed away on June 18, 2017 on the farm surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Danville, IL, on January 20, 1935 to the late Frank & Hattie (Laws) Burch.
Tom graduated from Tangier High School in 1953 and married the love of his life, Jan (Foster) Burch, on March 22, 1957. Throughout the years Tom worked at TeePak, Olin, Newport Army Ammunition Plant, was a hog farmer, construction worker, and substitute teacher while living in Florida, and retired from US Can after 27 years. Tom loved the outdoors and enjoyed farming, forestry, graphing trees, hunting, fishing, gardening, singing, chasing cows around the farm, telling stories, and spending time with his family on the farm. Tom loved to sit and visit and didn't know a stranger. He was a member and President of the Tangier Fish & Game Club.
Tom is survived by his wife, Jan; 5 sons, David (Lori) Burch, Tony Burch, Bryan (Peggy) Burch, Bill (Kelly) Burch, Matthew (Tami) Burch; 4 daughters, Jean (Craig) Spriestersbach, Lee Anne (Ted) Cummings, Lori Jane (Steve) Malone, Debbie (Paul) Green; 2 sisters, Frances Millikan and Pat Parker; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and hundreds of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter-in-law, Patty Burch; 2 brother-in-law's, Gene Millikan & Con Parker; and 2 children.
There will be a Celebration of Life Gathering on Saturday, July 8, 2017 from 10am to 2pm at the Tangier Community Center where everyone is welcome to honor, remember, and celebrate Tom's Life. Memorial donations may be given to one's favorite charity in memory of Tom. Sanders Funeral Care is assisting the family with arrangements.
