Thomas H. Griest

Thomas H. Griest, age 60 of Darlington, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at home. He was born on March 28, 1964 to Paul and Sharon (Griffin) Griest in Crawfordsville.

Tom was a graduate of North Montgomery, Class of 1983. He had previously worked at various local factories, including Isuzu of Lafayette, Maplehurst Industries, Penguin Random House and Heritage Products. Most recently, Tom worked for Crowe Farms. Tom also worked seasonally with the Indy 500 Safety Patrol Yellow Shirts, for over 20 years, retiring in 2024. He was a proud member of the Sons of American Legion. Tom was a devoted Catholic and member of St. Bernard's Church. He was previously a Scout Master when his son, Tommy, was active with the Boy Scouts.

He was the biggest 1966 Batman Series fan and collector, and he loved watching drag racing, especially, Don "The Snake" Prudhomme. Tom also enjoyed camping with friends and family. A man of many interests, he also enjoyed learning about space and NASA and was a devoted Miami Dolpins fan. Tom was a loving father and grandfather, a special father figure to Olivia Cartio and cared greatly for his 2 cats, Tootie and Little Crow.

Tom is survived by his 3 children, Holly Talisha (James Diamond) Griest, Thomas Paul Griest and Elijah White; 6 grandchildren, Noah James, Sophia Renee, Jackson Ray, Benjamin Craig, Thomas Allen (mother, Tasha Johnson) and Nathanael Paul (mother, Krystealya Spano); and 3 siblings, Roxanne Thomas, Kandy Hicks and Mark (Kelly) Griest.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Freddie Leon; and siblings, Timothy Griest and Sara Allee.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 from 4-7pm at Sanders Funeral Care, 315 S Washington Street in Crawfordsville. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2025 at 11:00 am at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 1306 E Main Street in Crawfordsville.
