Ms. Velvet Lynn Alexander, 46, Crawfordsville, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, March 21, at 5:47 AM, in the St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis, where she had undergone heart surgery, but her passing was due to complications not associated with her surgery. She was born July 18, 1966, in Hammond, Indiana, to Wayne and Carolyn S. (McMahon) Carr.
Velvet had worked for 18 years at Crown, Cork and Seal; was the Assistant Manager at the Speedway Gas Station, Crawfordsville for 4 years; and most recently worked for the last 2 years at the Crawfordsville Wal Mart. She was a 1984 graduate of Crawfordsville High School; member of Church Alive, Crawfordsville; and was a big NASCAR fan.
She is survived by her sons: Devin Alexander and Isaiah West, both of Crawfordsville. Also surviving is her parents: Wayne (Sharon) Carr, Crawfordsville, and Sue Alexander, Crawfordsville; sisters: Dee (Phil) Fettig, Crawfordsville; Michelle Keller, Oshkosh, Wisconsin; brothers: Duane E. Alexander, Crawfordsville; Dennis (Maria) Alexander, Brazil, Indiana; her beloved dog: Tink; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her step-brother: Dwayne McNorton; grandmother: Maude Eavey.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 25, at 1:00 PM, at the Church Alive, 1203 E. Main St., Crawfordsville, with Pastor Dan Mathews officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill North Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Monday, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Memorials may be made to: Isaiah West Account, c/o Chase Bank, 200 S.
