Mrs. Vera "Beth" (Wilson) Brown, 91, passed away peacefully at midnight, December 28, 2013, at her home in Bickford Cottage Assisted Living, where she had resided for 2 years. She was born September 3, 1922 in Montgomery County to Clayton and Edith Keller Wilson. She attended Crawfordsville High School until her Junior year when her parents moved to Waynetown. She graduated from Waynetown High School in 1940. During her teen years she helped in the home of John Servies. Upon graduation, she worked for the Wilson Brothers Shirt Factory in Crawfordsville. In the 70's she worked a short time at Wilson's Garage & Cafe in Parkersburg as a cook. In 1994 she started working for the Crawfordsville School System as a substitute cook, which she enjoyed very much until her health failed.

Beth married Donald Brown in 1945 at the home of Don's uncle, Rev. Merle Sparger, who also officiated. The went to housekeeping on the Ornbum farm near Youngs Chapel. In 1950, they purchased a farm east of Parkersburg where they raised their family. Don passed away on February 13, 1993.

Beth was a member of the Parkersburg Christian Church where she was active in the Ladies Aide. She is a member of Browns Valley Christian Church.

Beth is survived by daughters: Rebecca "Becky" (Douglas) White, West Lafayette, and Betty (Darrell) Simpson, near Browns Valley. Her son was Russell (Barbara) Brown, Crawfordsville. Both are deceased. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren: Angie (Danny) Knarr, Brad (Shawn) Brown, Jamie (Chester) Hembree, Richard (Beth) White, Darren (Kerri) Simpson, Dwayne (Kylene) Simpson, Joanna (Justin) Bullock, and Devin (Jase) Simpson. She has 12 great grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren. Also surviving is her close friend since high school, Madonna Jones, Crawfordsville.

Services will be Friday, January 3, at 10:00 AM at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, with Rev. David Finch officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, January 2, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Internment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery on Grant Avenue. Memorials may be sent to: Fish Food Pantry, 212 E. Wabash, Crawfordsville, In 47933 or to the: Browns Valley Christian Church, 9011 State Road 47 S., Crawfordsville, IN 47933.
