Vera M. Demoret, 84, of Crawfordsville, died during the night in her home on Wednesday, April 15.

She was a 1948 graduate of New Richmond High School and worked for a time at R. R. Donnelley & Sons Company where she met Donald Demoret to whom she was later married. She also assisted her husband in operating Suburban Press out of their home for many years.

Her children will always remember her for her passion in seeing her first calling in her life as being a dedicated wife and mother to her children, a passion that later grew to being a grandmother to her 5 grandchildren and great grandmother to her 5 great-grandchildren. Her family will always be grateful for her strong love and commitment to her family that she shared with her husband, Donald.

She was born September 26, 1930 to Claude and Maude Martin of New Richmond. She married Donald Demoret on April 2, 1950 in New Richmond. They shared 47 years of life together until his death September 23, 1997.

She is survived by her her daughter, Vicki Demoret of Crawfordsville, and her two sons, Doug (and his wife, Linda) of Crawfordsville and Steve (and his wife, Sara) of Gering, Nebraska, her sister, Mary Martin of Crawfordsville, along with her five grandchildren (Jessica Payton, Marty, Matt, Cody, and Kylie Demoret and five great-grandchildren (Joseph, Jonathan, and James Payton and Leighton and Eli Demoret). She treasured her family and enjoyed her last Christmas with all her family home this past Christmas. She also enjoyed and was comforted by her boxer dog, Gus, and cats, Sassy, Tuffy, and Max in the closing days of her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, and her parents, Claude and Maude Martin.

A graveside service is scheduled for 10:30 AM Saturday, April 18th, at Indian Creek Hill Cemetery, New Market, with her son, Rev. Steve Demoret officiating. Following the graveside service the family would like to invite friends to visit them at Vera's home; 1478 W. Country Club Road from 12:30 until 3:30 PM. Funeral arrangements are being cared for by the Powers-Priebe Funeral Home.
