Vera Terry, age 80, passed away on August 10th, 2013 in Crawfordsville, Indiana. She was born on May 2nd, 1933 to Paul and Mary Mae (Boyd) Nicholson.
Vera grew up in Rockwell City, Iowa and moved to Crawfordsville in her twenties. Before moving to Crawfordsville, Vera attended college at Cedar Falls College and then worked for the Women's Reformatory in Rockwell City. Vera began work for R.R. Donnelly, where she worked for over 30 years before she retired. After retirement, Vera began work as a caregiver for many women in Montgomery County. Vera was married to John Meadows and Leslie Terry who both preceded her in death.
Vera attended church services at the Athena Center, where she resided and had many friends. She enjoyed crafts and volunteering in local schools and child care centers. Vera was a 16 year survivor of breast cancer and an active participant in regional cancer camps and breast cancer fundraisers. She was blessed to have many friends through the cancer support system.
Vera was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Mary Mae Nicholson, her brother Bill Nicholson, her husbands, John Meadows and Leslie Terry and John Terry, her stepson.
Vera is survived by her brother Gary Nicholson (Rockwell City, Iowa) and sister, Jan Parker (Omaha, Nebraska) and her four children, Teresa Howe (Lafayette), David P. Meadows (Crawfordsville), Bob Meadows (Jasper) and Vonna Stabler (Crawfordsville). Vera had eight grandchildren and one great grandchild along with many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home at 315 South Washington Street, Crawfordsville, Indiana on Tuesday, August 13th from 12-2p.m. A private family service will be held at the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.
