Violet Rose (Lewis) Long, age 75, of Kingman and formerly of the New Market area passed away at 10:22 am on Monday, March 16, 2015 at Rockville Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born in Crawfordsville on August 25, 1939 to the late Charles Ray and Emma Sue (Cable) Lewis.
Violet attended Crawfordsville High School and married the love of her life, Bill Long, on April 22, 1955 in Greencastle. She worked for Medallion Carpet Cleaning in Crawfordsville for several years. She enjoyed playing bingo, listening to country music, watching hummingbirds, swinging on her front porch, and especially loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her loving husband, Bill of Kingman; four sons, Dennis (Annette) Long of OH, Michael Long of Lafayette, David (Carmen) Long of Kingman, and Tom (Kathy) Long of Crawfordsville; one daughter, Anita (Gary) Lambert of Kingman; 9 grandchildren, Elliott, Christian, Brandon, Tara, Tanya, Danielle, Heather, Brittany, and Brian, 11 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Fred and Bob; three sisters, Ruby, Helen, and Betty, and twin great-grandchildren.
Family will receive friends from 11:00am till time of service at 12:00pm on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Sanders Funeral Care, 203 S 1st Street, in Kingman. Funeral service will follow the visitation on Saturday at noon with Pastor Steve Crum officiating. Burial will follow at Freedom Cemetery. Sanders Funeral Care entrusted with care.
