Violet "Vicki" Newell

Violet "Vicki" F. Newell, 90, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 14, 1934 to Charlie and Olive (Self) Reynolds in Mitchell, Indiana. Vicki married William "Bill" Newell on October 23, 1955, spending 50 loving years together until his passing in 2005.

Vicki was a graduate of Waveland High School, Class of 1952 and Indiana Business College in Indianapolis. She worked for the FBI in Washington DC for 2 years before moving back to Indiana to start her family. Vicki also worked for various local insurance companies throughout her career. She was a great artist and enjoyed painting and writing poetry. Vicki was a loving homemaker and seamstress to her children and grandchildren. She was a member and elder of Grace & Mercy Ministries. Vicki was a devoted Christian and a Sunday School teacher for over 50 years.

Vicki is survived by her four children, Eddie (Nancy) Newell, Judy (Lee) Taylor, Sherry Newell, and Peggy (Nathan) Miller; 10 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren; a brother, Daryl "Joe" Reynolds of Lafayette; a sister, Carol Kauffman of Portland, OR and several extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; grandson, Nicholas Miller; and siblings, Faye Cope, Vera Reynolds, Bonnie Miller, Otto Reynolds, Ottis Reynolds and John Reynolds.

Donations may be made in her memory to the Grace & Mercy Food Pantry, 257 W Oak Hill Road, Crawfordsville, IN 47933.

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at Grace & Mercy Ministries in Crawfordsville from 10:00 am until time of the service at 11:30 am.
