Virginia Irene Hester

Mrs. V. Irene Hester, 93, Lapland/Parkersburg, passed away Friday, July 6, at 2:05 AM, at Hickory Creek Nursing Home. She was born May 27, 1919, in Lapland, to Frank and Julia ( Mangus) Crowe. She married Albert H. Hester November 4, 1936, in Montgomery County. He preceded her in death November 1, 1997.

Mrs. Hester had been a homemaker; worked as a cook at New Market Schools from 1959-1966; was a member of the Parkersburg Christian Church; and attended Parkersburg and Lapland schools.

She is survived by her sons: Albert Dale (Viola Fleenor) Hester and Russell Max (Sallie) Hester, both of Ladoga. Also surviving are grandchildren: Gaye Van Valkenburg, Tim Hester, Brian (Megan) Hester, Todd Hester; great grandchildren: Amber Van Valkenburg, Ethan (Dawnita) Hester, Trevor Hester, Hailey Hester, Hannah Hester; great great grandson: Laine, with another one due in August; sister-in-law: Wilma Hart; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by sister: Mildred Cragun; brothers: Paul Crowe, Ernest Crowe, Frank Crowe, and LaVerne Hart; also daughter-in-law: Nelda Hester.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 9, at 10:00 AM at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, 315 S. Washington St., Crawfordsville, with Rev. Michael Whitacre officiating. Burial will be at the Russellville Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, July 8, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
