Mrs. Vivian Doretta Capps, 73, Crawfordsville, residing at the Lane House Nursing Home, passed away Wednesday, October 10, at 1:53 AM, in St. Elizabeth Franciscan Crawfordsville Hospital. Vivian battled a long time with COPD and many other illnesses; she died peacefully in her sleep. She was born January 5, 1939, in Whitesville to Elmer S. and Goldie E. (Singleton) Oaks. She married Edward Conkright, Samuel Capps, and Loren Kasch, all having preceded her in death. She will be forever loved and missed by us on earth but will be re-joining the rest of her family in heaven.

Mrs. Capps had been a homemaker and had worked for Kraft Foods in Champaign, Illinois. She graduated from New Ross High School with her long time friend, Linda Harris Collins, in 1957.

She was a caring mother of three children who survive : Dusty (D'Shay) Oaks, Louisiana; Dixie (Jon) Addler, and Barb Wells (companion Brian Scaggs), both of Crawfordsville. She was also a loving grandmother of 9 surviving grandchildren: Lisa, Michelle, Nikki, Megan, Emily, Morgan, Macy, Brooke, and Cody; and 5 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Elmer Edward and Elmo Oaks; as well as a sister: Irene Oaks Johnson.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 13, at Noon, at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, Crawfordsville. Burial will be in the New Ross Cemetery. Friends may call at he funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 AM until Noon. In lieu of flowers, donations to the funeral home may be made to help cover expenses.
