Wiliam Priebe

d. February 5, 2014

William (Billy Joe) Priebe went to join his mother in Heaven Wednesday morning at 12:20 AM. He had been a resident at the Lane House for a short period of time. He was born to William E. Priebe and Elsie (Wilbur) Priebe on March 28, 1942. After his Mother's passing over 5 years ago, he was in the permanent care of his sisters, who devoted their life to him. His greatest love was Gospel Music. On Monday nights at the Wallace Gospel Music Night, he would go, wheelchair and all. He was treated with such dignity and respect. At the end of every service, Tony Shuman, the owner, would ask Billy's sister to bring him upfront and hand him a microphone and everyone would sing, "I'll Fly Away", Billy's favorite song. What wonderful people. Billy was profoundly mentally handicapped and hard of hearing. To all those people who were kind to him, God will bless you for that.

Billy was preceded in death by his Father; Mother; two brothers: Ernie Priebe and Larry Priebe; and a sister: Marcia Jean Priebe.

His surviving family members are: sisters: Nancy Stephens, Crawfordsville; Jerry Priebe, New Ross; Judy Jordan, Crawfordsville; a step-brother: Garrett Busenbark, Crawfordsville; and a step-sister: Teresa Cotten, Crawfordsville.

We know he is Heaven, where he can talk plainly; hear what is being said; and he can sing with the Angels.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 8, at 11:00 AM, at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, with Pastor Randall Glenn officiating. Visitation will be held 1 Hour prior to the services. He will be laid to rest next to his Mother at the Freedom Baptist Cemetery
