November 20, 1952 — June 7, 2024

Ladoga

William "Bill" Dean Ray, age 71 of Ladoga, passed away at home on Friday, June 7, 2024, after a short illness. He was born in Crawfordsville on November 20, 1952, to the late Robert G. & Thelma Dean (Paddack) Ray.

Bill graduated with the last class at New Market High School. He married Peggy Rice who preceded him in death in 2012. He then married Pamela Raines in July 2016, who survives. He is also survived by his two daughters, Stephanie (Jade) Troy and Kelly (Chad) Cass; five grandchildren, Griffin, Mason, Spencer, Harrison, and Thatcher; and a bonus daughter, Megan (Thomas) Lucas. Oakleigh and Axel were his bonus grandchildren. They ALL fondly called him "Dodo", and everyone knew his nickname around the community. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and an infant grandson.

Bill was a graduate of the Purdue Ag Program and was in the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. After completing his degree, he started working in the agriculture field. Bill came back to Montgomery County and started working on the Ray family farm with his father. Bill maintained the farm until his death. Bill and family were well-known for their cattle, hogs, and currently sheep (his retirement hobby). Bill also worked at several businesses (full or part-time depending on the season).

He was an athlete in his younger years, he enjoyed sports of all kinds, and even enjoyed dirt track racing with Pamela's family.

Bill had the gift of gab, humor, knew no stranger, a lifetime jokester, and onery! It was his gift to everyone.

Bill has chosen cremation through Sanders Funeral Care. A celebration of life is not planned per Bill's wishes. Share memories and condolences online at www.SandersFuneralCare.com.
