Wilma Jean Hart

Mrs. Wilma Jean Hart, 89, Crawfordsville, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, July 4th. She was born November 5th, 1925, in New Market, to Elmer and Katie (Tate) Rice. She married Hugh LaVerne "Vern" Hart in Dana on August 14th, 1956. He preceded her in death on May 2nd, 2011.

Wilma retired in 1991 after 41 years with R. R. Donnelleys, having last worked in the Bindery Department. She was a graduate of New Market High School and a member of the New Market Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter: Judy A. Byers, Crawfordsville; brothers: Art (Tyke) Rice, Alfred (Ruth) Rice, and Danny Rice, all of Crawfordsville; David (Janie) Rice, York, Pennsylvania; grandchildren: Kevin Byers and Andy (Kristy) Byers, both of Crawfordsville; Buffy (Ed) Bunch, Indianapolis; great grandchildren: William Byers and Brittany Byers, both of Crawfordsville; Tonya (Brian) Posthauer, Ladoga; Alex Bunch, Indianapolis; great great grandchildren: Chloe Linzie, Madisyn Posthauer, and Noah Carr. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Evelyn Reddish, Elizabeth Kelly, Sarah Wilbur, and Louise Bell; brother: Benny Rice; 1/2 brothers: Bob and Joe Rice; and Sanford Boraker.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Thursday, July 9th, at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, with Pastor Terry Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill South Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 8th, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM
