Wilma Zimmerman

Mrs. Wilma J. Zimmerman, 86, Crawfordsville, formerly of New Market, passed away Sunday, December 30, at 9:03 AM in Franciscan St. Elizabeth Crawfordsville Hospital. She was born November 25, 1926, in Hendricks County, to William Acy and Lily Maude (Hooser) Hughes. She married Paul R. Zimmerman, October 8, 1944, in Mitchell, Indiana. He preceded her in death in 2003.

Mrs. Zimmerman had worked for many years as a Bookkeeper for Layne & Myers Elevator, New Market, and was an Avon and Sara Coventry Jewelry Representative. She was a 1944 graduate of Roachdale High School; member of the Browns Valley Christian Church; enjoyed reading, sewing, knitting, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children: Linda (Arch) Alexander, West Lafayette; Steve Zimmerman, Crawfordsville; and Mike (Chris) Zimmerman, Waveland. Also surviving are brothers: Alan (Betty) Hughes, Danvillle, Indiana; Dick (Lola) Hughes, North Carolina; 6 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; grandson: Aaron Zimmerman; brothers: Norman and Bill Hughes.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 3, at 2:00 PM, at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, Crawfordsville, with Pastor Ron Whitacre officiating. Burial will be in the Indian Creek Hill Cemetery, New Market. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, from Noon until 2:00 PM.
