Mariam (Myers) Brown, age 91 of Crawfordsville was welcomed into the arms of her loving Savior on Saturday, May 5, 2018 while surrounded by her family at Bickford Cottage of Crawfordsville.
Mariam was born November 2, 1926 in Linnsburg, Indiana to Fred & Vera (Reichard) Myers. On August 16, 1953 in Crawfordsville she married the love her life, Ernest F. Brown, who preceded her in death on October 25, 2010. They celebrated 57 years of marriage together.
Mariam graduated from New Ross High School in 1944. She loved teaching others. She gave music lessons on the clarinet at Lyons Music Store for several years and played in the local Civic Band. She was a member of Christ’s United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School, VBS, and served in many committees and groups as long as she was able. Mariam was also a devoted Cub Scout den mother for her boys. In her spare time, she was always ready for a card game or board game with family and friends. But what she loved most was spending time with her grandkids, great grandkids, and drinking milkshakes!
Mariam’s jobs throughout the years included working at The Big Dipper, the Boulevard Superette, and JC Penney’s during the Christmas season.
She is survived by two daughters, Susan (John) Koehler and Cathy Brown both of Crawfordsville; four sons, Gary Brown and Dennis Brown, both of Bloomingdale, David (Arletta) Brown of Lafayette, and Terry Brown of Crawfordsville; six grandchildren, Jacob (Carrie) Brown of Chicago, Jeanine (Jon) Newman of Lafayette, Cory (Camille) Brown of Seattle, WA, Andrew (Tiffany) Koehler of Lebanon, Cole (Amber) Golladay of Crawfordsville, Shelby (Kyle) Coomey of Linden; and seven great grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ernest Brown; three brothers, Donald, George, and Clyde Myers; and two sisters, Ruth Morrison and Bernice VanHook.
